Ken Ryan has operated this business for over 15 years now and is still going strong.
We are based in Thurles, Co. Tipperary and are serving the counties of Tipperary, Kilkenny, Limerick, Offaly, Laois, Cork and Clare.
Qualifications
Ken has worked in the arboriculture/tree surgery industry for over 20 years and studied horticulture in the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin, before specialising his studies in tree care in one of the worlds first arboricultural training centres, Merrist Wood College, Guildford in the United Kingdom.
Having completed his third level education, Ken worked for private tree surgery contractors in the UK, as well as working for the Office of Public Works, Phoenix Park and Coillte here in Ireland.
Experience
For over 15 years now Ken has been self employed, providing a contracting and consulting tree surgery service to both public bodies and private tree owners, where an educated and ethical opinion is required for the care of trees.
Darwin Tree Specialists are highly experienced in working on care and maintenance of trees for public and private customers, we work for Local Authorities, Hotels, Private Estates, Schools, Housing Associations, HSE and Parks. We are approved contractors for Local authority bodies like the County Councils, Ervia, Teagasc, Coillte, OPW to mention a few.
Health & Safety
Our experienced tree surgery team have an outstanding safety record.Darwin Tree Specialists Ltd are dedicated to maintaining the highest possible safety standards and all our staff are fully trained insured and certified in all aspects of tree surgery works, all work is carried out to BS 3998 Recommendations for Tree Work and other good standards and practices.
All employees wear all appropriate PPE necessary for tree surgery works and all equipment is calibrated on a regular basis, as required.
The company has invested extensively in health and safety training, machinery and equipment, this provides peace of mind for all our customers. All our climbers and chainsaw users have the appropriate chainsaw qualifications and work experience.
Our employees are also trained in Manual Handling, Occupational First Aid, Mobile Elevated Work Platform, Traffic Management, Pesticide application and all employees hold a valid Safe Pass.
